“Mango? Tamarind? Hibiscus? Cucumber and cilantro? Or traditional lime?”
This is how every experience with a margarita butler starts at the effortlessly chic Esperanza, an Auberge Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Once you’ve chosen your preferred rim and fresh juice, your expertly trained butler will add in tequila, agave, ice, and shake it up cabana-side while you look out over the luxurious infinity pool as the waves crash on the beach below.
The spacious cabanas are set back from the pool’s edge with breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez. They each include a plug for electronics, fresh towels, soft drinks, board games, magazines, fruit, and a button for immediate service. You can also opt for a beach cabana to feel the ocean mist while you sip.
After your first glass, you may want a six-cup pitcher of your favorite flavor, or you can request to try different margaritas on the menu from prickly pear to spicy strawberry. If you don’t see a flavor you like, your butler is happy to accommodate any seasonal requests, including rarer fruits like guava. Each margarita is mixed using seasonal fruit juices made in-house and Casamigosblue agave tequila from Jalisco, Mexico.

The idea for this one-of-a-kind resort amenity came after Hurricane Odile devastated the resort in 2014. “After Odile, we closed down for eight months of renovations. When we opened back up we decided to offer the margarita butler as an extra personalized service that is authentic to Mexico,” Resort Manager Diego Weiss said.

Each butler is trained by the resort’s master tequilier, Christian, before taking on the role, so they can help you decide which flavors taste better frozen or on the rocks and which go best with salt or tajin on the rim. The most popular type of margarita at the resort is the uber-refreshing cucumber and cilantro on the rocks.

You may not want to drink all those margaritas on an empty stomach, so throughout the day your butler will offer crudités, fruit skewers, little bites like grilled cheese with jalapeño and ham, plus cold towels, all included with the service.

Tacos and tequila are a perfect mix, so when you’re looking for something a bit more substantial, the Esperanza Lounge Bar cooks up delightful Baja fish tacos, fresh guacamole, and more from their pool menu.

And if you haven’t had enough lime margaritas by the end of the day, then head over to the resort’s award-winning spa for a “Spagarita”. You can have a relaxing foot soak, plus a hand and foot scrub and massage with a Baja lime moisturizer hydrating wrap and lime facial compress.

A margarita butler is included when you purchase a poolside cabana for the day. A cabana costs $140 and includes six margaritas, or you can request the demonstration, including two fresh margaritas mixed right in front of you, for $32.
