Vivo is teaming up with Jio to test its 5G connectivity on the X80 series. Are Indian telecoms ready for 5G on current devices? The Vivo X series went up for sale in India last week. The lineup includes the Vivo X80 and X80 Pro. The phones are available via online and retail stores across the country. Now, Vivo and Reliance Jio have teamed up. As part of the collaboration, Vivo will test 5G connectivity on its X80 series smartphones.
The Pro comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. However, the standard X80 variant gets a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip. Notably, the 5G test trials on the X80 series were conducted in a test environment. During the trials, the devices were able to stream 4K video without any lag. Further, the data upload and download were super fast. Overall, the testing of 5G on the X80 series was successful.
Vivo, Jio Team Up For 5G Trails On The X80 Series
This is a sign that Reliance Jio is ready for 5G. With 5G-ready devices, users will be able to access faster internet connectivity. Vivo recently released a statement (via TimesofIndia) about the 5G readiness of its devices. The brand deems the successful 5G trial as one step forward. Vivo will focus on creating a smartphone ecosystem to expedite the adoption of 5G technology in India. To recap, there have been similar collaborations in the past. For instance, Oppo had conducted 5G tests on its new devices in India.
